Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 | Lima
Transfer to your hotel in Lima.

Day 2 | Lima
Early morning breakfast and transfer to the Villa swamps, paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers with more than 100 species of birds. Then we visit the Pachacamac archaeological complex (31km south of Lima) and return to Lima.

After lunch, city tour with visits to the Miraflores district, downtown Lima, the Main Square (Plaza de Armas), the Cathedral and San Francisco convent. Night free.

Day 3 | Lima
Pick-up from hotel and road transport to Pucusana (1 hour - 70 km), reception and tour briefing in the Pucusana office of Nature Expeditions, bird watching in and near Pucusana Port, trip to Asia Island with dolphin watching. Bird species identification chart, dolphin identification catalogue (individual animals).

Snack and refreshments on board. Coctail and snack upon return to Pucusana on the terrace of Nature Expeditions local office with panoramic view over the port. Return to your hotel in Lima.

City Tour Lima 2 - Caral

The 5000-year-old city of Caral, located 182 km north of Lima, in the Valley of Supe is considered the oldest civilization of America, almost as old as Egypt, Mesopotamia, India and China.

The City of Caral is formed by a group of pyramids, which depicts the large artistic, technological, and scientific advances that they achieved, surprising development compared to the total isolation and the cultural exchange of the cultures in the old world. Thanks to the discovery of this archeological city of Caral, now we have a new chronologic vision of the cities in America and the world.

Suggested Itinerary

Pick up at 6:30 am at designated meeting point; we will take the north Panamericana highway up to Vegeta town. Then we take a road through ditches and plantations, surrounded by the typical flora and fauna of the region.

We will also have the opportunity to observe the irrigation canals in this desert zone, bean cultivation zones, caña brava, corn, yuca and the interaction with the local communities. A guided visit on arrival to the archeological city of Caral. Here we will be able to appreciate 7 monumental pyramids, in two of which we can see the architectural distribution of the first civilization of Peru and America.

There are also an amphitheater, central plazas, residential areas and religious centers. After the tour we will go to a popular town called Barranca where we will have lunch; we suggest the famous typical Peruvian dish called Tacu–Tacu with shellfish. Return to the city of Lima at the designated meeting point.

City Tour Lima 3 - Lachay Lomas

The Lomas de Lachay National Reserve is located 105 Km north of Lima. It covers an area of 52070 hectares. These Lomas are a result of a combination of climatologic factors typical from the coast, regulated by a particular geography. They happen at the point of contact between the mist coming from the ocean and the first slopes of the western Andes.

In Lachay you can find 2 well-defined seasons very marked, the more remarkable wet season that goes from June to November, and the dry season from December to May. 74 species of plants have been registered in the Lomas of Lachay, 25 of them are endangered.

Apart from the biodiversity of the reserve, here we find cave paintings (pre-historic paintings made by ancient Peruvian population) and an archeological site of pre-Inca cultures. As well as rock formations of granite and diorite, which time and erosion have molded into interesting geologic forms.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 | Lima - Lomas de Lachay
Pick up at noon at designated point, then a 2-hour trip to our first destination, Paradise Beach with a sea-water pond, our first bird watching spot, as this is part of the migrating coast corridor. Arrival to Lomas de Lachay Reserve at approximately 1 pm. After a delicious lunch we visit the interpretation center of INRENA (National Resources Institute). Dinner and bonfire.

Day 2 | Lomas de Lachay - Lima
After breakfast we start our 4-hour walk, it is important to start early in order to see the most of wild life. We can admire the beauty of the landscape, the flora and fauna always with the interpretation of our naturalist guide, who will explain the importance of this place. Return to Lima after lunch.
