Secretary General of the United Nations from 1982 to 1991

Javier Perez de Cuellar was born in Lima (1920), he was a very important international diplomat (Secretary General of the United Nations) for more than 9 years. His diplomatic career took him to varios countries like France, UK and Brazil among others. He even ran for President of Peru once, but lost to Alberto Fujimori (right now in prison for corruption).

One of his major achievements during his term as Secretary of the United Nations was his mediation in the conflict between Argentina and the UK for the Fakland Islands.

He grew up in Lima and studied in San Agustin school and later on, in the Catolica University.
