Historically, Piura Peru, is considered to be the first Spanish city ever established in South America. It was way back in 1532 that Spanish Conqueror Francisco Pizarro established this city and named it San Miguel de Piura.

This later transformed into the much modern name of the city, Piura. Thanks to its accessible location and various attractive spots, Piura in Peru has become one of the well known tourist destinations today.

Reaching Piura

You can reach the city via air. The international airport of Piura is called the Guillermo Concha Iberico Inhternational Airport. This is the second busiest airport of this South American nation. The major flights that fly to and from here are AeroCondor, TANS Peru, and Wayra Peru, among others.

You can also get a bus to Piura from Lima. There are many international buses in Piura that will take you to Ecuador. The city can also be accessed from Loja.

The major places of interest in Piura can be accessed via trips to various parts of the city. Tourists can take day trips to Sullana City and Catacaos City.
